New Beginnings: A New Year

Every set of eyes holds a dream, a hope
a new beginning.
I ponder what the year promises,
what wonders, awe, and magic
lie hidden within each day’s unfolding.

On this, the last day, the ending,
We remember moments,
laughter, fears, and longings buried in
the insignificant and consequential—
lives lived through love and belonging.

As we step through the
moment where  space and time
converge, we must let go of
what was,
what we cannot change.

Now, we open our hands
yearning for moments thoughtfully filled,
lovingly bound together in the
lives we share, in the dreams
we celebrate, in comfort given and received.

We look into eyes holding a dream, a hope
a new beginning.

.     .     .

We can begin again anytime for any reason, but ending a year, closing the door on 365 days, 525,600 minutes, and 31,536,000 seconds invites us to pause. Think of all the opportunities we have in a single year.

Looking at time in this way, I realize I can significantly impact my sphere of influence if I pay attention for even half of those days, minutes, and seconds. Where do I begin?

How about this moment?

“Yesterday is gone. Tomorrow has not yet come.
We have only today. Let us begin.”
― Mother Theresa

And always—

Be kind. Be brave. Be you.
