The last days of 2025 draw to a close. What a year! I cling to a phrase I came across five years ago while the pandemic separated us, and we lived with uncertainty.
Hope will not be canceled! *
Indeed, with hope we “cherish a desire with anticipation.” The archaic definition describes hope as trust. I rather like the notion of trust.
Trust that we can make the world a better place. Trust that we can be and become so much more than we thought or imagined. Trust that hope is alive.
I will hold hope like a magnifying glass. Seeking out hope with trust and anticipation in the obvious and perhaps hidden places.
. . .
Hidden Hopes
The vast landscape of the sea
unwrapped hidden hopes in me.
Standing on the distant shore
waves beckoned — opening the door
quickening my hungry soul.
(Kathryn, 1993)
. . .
What hopes and dreams lie within reach for you today?
Holding on to hope
Words of hope
“The very least you can do in your life is figure out what you hope for. And the most you can do is live inside that hope. Not admire it from a distance but live right in it, under its roof.”
— Barbara Kingsolver
And always—
Be kind. Be brave. Be you.
