Title Logo: Bits & Pieces in blue with a swish line under the words

For years, I have hoarded quotes on small slips of paper, in journals, and now in a spreadsheet. I find them in articles, books, poems, podcasts, and occasionally, conversations.

Something about the shape and formation of words can capture a thought, suspend it in time and place. You can hold onto the words and use them as a reminder of values and aspirations.

Since 1998, people around the world have mark November as a day to remember and celebrate the power of kindness. This kindness is more than one moment on one day, but a commitment to treating humankind and all living creatures with respect, empathy, and compassion.

Kindness Thoughts

Here are a few to embrace and explore as you fill your home, your community, the world with kindness. The smallest gesture has the power to change someone’s day. The cost to us is nothing compared to the loss of hope in one life.

You can make a difference today and every day through simple, but intentional, acts of kindness. Remember that kindness is more than a noun; it lives in our actions and habits.

Can you imagine a world where every person practiced kindness all day? Every. Single. Day.

Do you believe kindness matters?

“A single act of kindness throws out roots in all directions,
and the roots spring up and make new trees.”

—Amelia Earhart

Have you made kindness an intentional practice?

“You cannot do a kindness too soon,
for you never know how soon it will be too late.”

—Ralph Waldo Emerson

How far can kindness reach?

“Remember there’s no such thing as a small act of kindness.
Every act creates a ripple with no logical end.”

—Scott Adams

Who needs your strength today?

“Tenderness and kindness are not signs of weakness and despair,
but manifestations of strength and resolution.”

—Kahlil Gibran

What treasure can you find in kindness?

“Guard well within yourself that treasure, kindness.
Know how to give without hesitation,

how to lose without regret,
how to acquire without meanness.”

—George Sand

And a song for kindness . . .

Do you have a favorite thought on kindness? Share it in the comments. We can never have too much kindness inpiration.

Note: “World Kindness Day is internationally observed on 13 November of each year. It was introduced in 1998 by the World Kindness Movement, then a coalition of national NGOs with a primary focus on kindness. World Kindness Day is to highlight good deeds in the community focusing on the positive power and the common thread of kindness which binds us.”

And always—

Be kind. Be brave. Be you.
