Constant change . . .
There is something about rain and storms that is both frightening and cleansing. Life is like that. We need those moments of thrashing about and struggle to understand ourselves and the world around us.
Then there is the other side – the washing away of thoughts and feelings that no longer serve us. The ones that weigh us down with regret and melancholy.
As sparks of blue litter the sky, we see hope. Not much really changed since the storm began. But we, the earth, the plants, are changed. We may not realize or understand how. We just know.
A rainy day song for you . . .
One of my favorite “rainy day” songs comes from Paul Simon’s Kathy’s Song:
I hear the drizzle of the rain
Like a memory it falls
Soft and warm continuing
Tapping on my roof and walls…
And as I watch the drops of rain
Weave their weary paths and die
I know that I am like the rain
There but for the grace of you go I
What are you thinking today?
